The invention relates to an apparatus for nuclear magnetic resonance therapy, which comprises a bed, two opposing sweep coils as well as an upper coil and a lower coil for generating an alternating magnetic field wherein the second further coil is adapted for being pivoted upwards or for being raised. The object of the invention is to provide an apparatus for nuclear magnetic resonance therapy which provides the largest possible treatment volume and which allows the user to enter in the most comfortable and convenient way possible and also counteracting claustrophobia of the user during the treatment. The invention provides an apparatus for nuclear magnetic resonance therapy, comprising a bed, sweep coils that are arranged laterally of the bed with a space between the coils defining a treatment volume, and further comprising a first further coil arranged below the bed, for generating an alternating magnetic field, wherein a second further coil is arranged above the treatment volume and is adapted for being pivoted upwards or for being raised, the second further coil for generating an alternating magnetic field, wherein the coils are arranged substantially in a Helmholtz configuration, thus generating a substantially homogeneous field that extends across the bed, and wherein field strength of the swept field is between 0.1 and 100 mT by a frequency of the alternating field from 1 to 100 mT.
