The process of producing a steamed sweet potato rice cake (butsi) comprising the following steps: boiling the sweet potato until it becomes soft and tender, peeling the boiled sweet potato and mashing it using the mortar and pestle and setting them aside, combining all dry ingredients such as Glutinous Rice Flour, powdered Malabar Spinach, white sugar, salt and the mashed sweet potato in a mixing bowl, mixing all the ingredients thoroughly using the wooden spoon and subsequently adding vanilla and evaporated milk until all ingredients are evenly distributed to attain the desired dough, portioning the dough into equal sizes forming into a flat circle and at the same time preparing the steamer, putting a teaspoonful of pineapple jam on the middle of the flattened dough, molding it forming úlike balls, steaming the balls using the steamer for about 10-15 minutes, rolling each ball in the plate with desiccated coconut then serve.
