PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gradient magnetic field coil device that enlarges gradient magnetic fields without enlarging leakage magnetic field.SOLUTION: The gradient magnetic field coil device includes: spiral-shaped first coils 12a to 12d forming magnetic field distributions, wherein intensity inclines linearly, in a photographing region of a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus and spiral-shaped second coils 16a to 16d arranged at the opposing side of the photographing region with the first coils 12a to 12d therebetween, and suppressing the leakage magnetic fields produced by the 12a to 12d on their opposing side. Electric current IS flowing through the second coils 16a to 16d is less than the electric current IM flowing through the first coils 12a to 12d (IM>IS).
