Provided is an absorbent article able to provide an improved rate of absorption while being less susceptible to compressed grooves being closed up. This absorbent article (1) is provided with a surface sheet (2) and an absorbent body (4) comprising a first absorption layer (11) and a second absorption layer (12), and has compressed grooves 5 in which the surface sheet and the absorbent body are compressed. The first absorption layer comprises: a central polymer-present region (21) at the center thereof, the central polymer-present region comprising an absorbent polymer; outer polymer-present regions (22) located on the outer sides thereof; and polymer-absent regions (31) comprising less absorbent polymer, the polymer-absent regions being located between the central polymer-present region and the outer polymer-present regions. The compressed grooves are located within the polymer-absent regions (31) and spaced apart from the central polymer-present region and the outer polymer-present regions.
