A wayfinding and obstacle avoidance system for assisting thevisually impaired with wayfinding and obstacle avoidance. The wayfinding andobstacle avoidance system generally includes a processor, a memory, whichstores program instructions, and potentially an area map. The wayfindingdeviceis generally configured to receive pose data and depth data from a provider inorder to determine the position of one or more objects within the field ofview of thewayfinding device. This determination is usually made using interpreters, thatmayinclude a memoryless interpreter, a persistent interpreter, and a systeminterpreter. Interpreters will generally provide this information to a uservia one ormore presenters. This feedback may include, but is not limited to visualfeedback,audio feedback, and haptic feedback.
