PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical stapling apparatus comprising surgical buttresses.SOLUTION: There is provided an end effector assembly 16 for use with a surgical stapling apparatus 10. The end effector comprises: a staple cartridge assembly 200 having a tissue contacting surface defining a central longitudinal slot an anvil assembly 300 having a tissue contacting surface defining a central longitudinal slot surgical buttresses 500 releasably disposed on the respective tissue contacting surfaces of the staple cartridge and the anvil plate and an adhesive member.
