The present invention relates to a method for preparing a sustained release tablet containing an itopride hydrochloride salt as an active ingredient. More particularly, the present invention provides a sustained release tablet which is enable to have compliance and convenience of administration compared to the conventional preparation which is taken three times a day by sustaining release such that the sustained release tablet can be taken once a day. The sustained release tablet of itopride, according to the present invention, can effectively control release of an itopride hydrochloride salt without release deviation for 24 hours at a rate of near zero-order. Therefore, inconvenience of the conventional preparation, which is administered three times a day, can be resolved by administering the preparation once a day. In addition, since weight per tablet is small as 450 mg, compliance of patients is high. Thus, loss of drug efficacy and deterioration of symptoms can be prevented.
