A liquid herbicidal composition free of alkyl polyglucoside includes glufosinate and/or a salt thereof, an alkyl ether sulfate or a salt thereof, a hydrotrope； a polycarboxylate having a weight average molecular weight ranging from greater than or equal to 1,000 g/mol to less than 70,000 g/mol, and water. The alkyl ether sulfate is according to the average formula (I): R—(OCH2CH2)n—OSO4 (I), wherein R is linear or branched alkyl group having from 8 to 18 carbon atoms and wherein the subscript n ranges from 1 to 10.
