Binding of transcriptionally competent YAP1 to transcription factor Oct4 induces Sox2, a transcription factor essential for the self-renewal of stem-like cells from non-small cell lung cancer. The WW domain of YAP1 binds to the PPxY motif of Oct4 and induces Sox2. Transferring the peptide corresponding to the WW domain can prevent the induction and shedding function of Sox2. Similarly, peptides and mimetics of the PPxY motif may inhibit line function.
