598884 Disclosed is a system for manipulating energy transferred by members defining a knee joint. The members collectively define a path of motion and have a cartilage with an energy absorption component. The system has a first attachment structure which is configured to be attached to a first member of the joint and a second attachment structure which is configured to be attached to a second member of the joint. The system also has an energy absorbing member attached to the first attachment structure and the second attachment structure. The energy absorbing member is configured to provide no limitation or resistance to elongation of the energy absorbing member as the members defining the joint move through flexion.
