A plant-growing tray 102 having a base, a support member 123 for supporting a stabilised medium and an inclined tray wall 114 such that it can nest with other trays. Preferably the tray is an array of cells 108 for stabilised media for propagating plants, comprises a tray base, tray top 110, with each cell having a base 116, an inclined side wall 114 extending from the base to the tray top, a plurality of projections 123 positioned around the side wall and facing into the cell, and a plurality of openings 125 in the side wall below the projections. The projections 123 support an upper portion of the stabilised medium. When in a stacked or nested situation, preferably the projections pass through or nest in the openings of the adjacent tray. The projections may be curved and may have strengthening buttresses on their underside. There may be first and second projections located at different heights within the cell for supporting different parts of the growing medium (Fir 11/12). The tray may have a skirt 122 around its perimeter.
