PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently conduct an imaging process in a stereo-matching method by varying the size of a matching range in accordance with internal parts imaged by an imaging device.
SOLUTION: The distance measuring system 10 is provided with an endoscope 11 capable of obtaining stereo images, and a distance measuring device 12 to determine distance between the endoscope 11 and the internal part based on image data of the internal part imaged by the endoscope 11 using a stereo matching method. The distance measuring device 12 is provided with an imaged part identifying means 14 to identify the kind of the imaged internal part by comparing image data obtained by the endoscope 11 with image data for each kind of the internal parts which are preliminarily stored, a matching range determining means 15 to determine the size of a matching range based on the kind of the internal part identified by the imaged part identifying means 14, and a distance measuring means 16 to determine the distance by searching a corresponding point between image data based on the size of the matching range determined by the matching range determining means 15.
