The invention relates to biotechnology and concerns the manufacturing and use of a vaccine for the specific prophylaxis of transmissible gastroenteritis in pigs. The invention is directed towards solving the problem of creating an effective avirulent live vaccine against transmissible gastroenteritis and an operationally simple method for using said vaccine, said vaccine and method being directed simultaneously towards activating cellular immunity in brood sows, which provides colostral protection of newborn sucking pigs, and activating humoral immunity in brood sows, which provides protection of said brood sows against infection. The vaccine against transmissible gastroenteritis in pigs comprises a virus material from the "BH-96" virus strain of transmissible gastroenteritis in pigs in a titre of 7.0-7.2 lg of TCD (Tissue Cytopathic Dose) 50/ml, and a physiological solution as filler, with the following ratio of components: 0.09-0.1% by weight of "ВН-96" strain virus material, with the remainder being the physiological solution. The method for using the vaccine against transmissible gastroenteritis consists in a single intramuscular immunization of pregnant brood sows 40-45 days before farrowing, in a dose of 4.5-5 ml to the head.
