The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating retinal diseases containing CCN5 as an active component. CCN5 according to the present invention prevents fibrotic changes of retinal pigment epithelial cells, caused by TGF-β, EEF, or anti-VEGF drugs. In addition, the CCN5 recovers the morphological or functional damage, caused by fibrotic changes, of retinal pigment epithelial cells to the level of normal cells. Therefore, a composition containing the CCN5 as the active component can be usefully used for preventing or treating retinal diseases.본 발명은 CCN5를 유효성분으로 포함하는 망막질환 예방 또는 치료용 약학 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 CCN5는 TGF-β, EEF 또는 anti-VEGF 약물에 의한 망막색소상피 세포의 섬유증적 변형을 예방한다. 또한, 상기 CCN5는 망막색소상피 세포의 섬유증적 변형에 의한 형태학적 또는 기능적인 손상을 정상세포의 수준으로 회복시킨다. 따라서, 상기 CCN5를 유효성분으로 포함하는 조성물은 망막질환의 예방 또는 치료에 유용하게 활용될 수 있다.
