摘要:
A ceramic femoral resurfacing head prosthesis 110 comprising a convex outer surface 112, a concave inner surface 114, and a ceramic stem 120 projecting from the inner surface 114. In one arrangement the stem is provided with a base 122 comprising at least a two-part angular transition 138 in a longitudinal direction of the stem 120 (Fig 9). Alternatively, or additionally, the free end of the stem 126 may be at, or spaced inwardly of, a plane defined by the prosthesis’ rim 116 (Fig 8). In another arrangement the rim 160 defines an asymmetrical profile between the prosthetics’ inner 114 and outer 112 surfaces, the rim having two or more different arcs 148, 150 having a radius (R5, R6, Fig 14) of 0.2-1.5mm. The inner surface 114 may alternatively, or additionally, comprise at least one circumferentially elongate recesses (136, Fig 11). A system is also taught which provides two groups of prosthetics (152, 154, Fig 15 & 16), each prosthetic having a stem with a lateral extent that is common to all prosthetics within that group but different to the prosthetics in the other group. Each prosthetic also has a unique outer surface geometry.
