The present invention provides an illumination method for controlling plant growth, which is applied to a plant lamp for irradiating the plant. The method includes the following steps: first, the plant lamp irradiates the plant with a first mixed color light at the first time period, in which the first mixed color light has a first primary peak value of the wavelength between 415nm-445nm and a first secondary peak value of the wavelength between 435nm-465nm next, at the second time period after the first time period, the plant lamp irradiates the plant with a second mixed color light, in which the second mixed color light has a second primary peak value of the wavelength between 595nm-625nm and a second secondary peak value of the wavelength between 415nm-445nm finally, at the third time period after the second time period, the plant lamp irradiates the plant with a third mixed color light, in which the third mixed color light has a third primary peak value of the wavelength between 595nm-625nm and a third secondary peak value of the wavelength between 415nm-445nm.
