Disclosed are aryloxy amine compounds of formula (I), salts and solvates thereof, and methods for their preparation. A is cyclopentadienyl, phenyl, heteroaryl group, or napthyl B is a substituted phenyl ring L1 and L2 are alkylene, alkenylene, or alkynylene chains A specific example of a compound of formula (I) is 4-{ ([2-(2,6-dimethylphenoxy)-1-methylethyl]amino)methyl} -(3-methylphenol). Compounds of formula (I) are useful for treating conditions where excessive or undesirable sodium channel activity is implicated. Such conditions include neuroinflammatory disease, neuropathic pain, spinal cord injury, axonal loss, degeneration or damage, a demyelinating disease or central or peripheral neuropathy.
