An opening size between the moveable part and the fixe part is detected indicating whether a rat, a mouse or a false alarm is detected. By the invention a beneficial and accurate way of monitoring the status rat traps are obtainedLinvention concerne un procédé pour surveiller si un certain nombre de pièges à rat a été activé, chaque piège ayant une partie mobile, une partie fixe, un commutateur et un dispositif de signalisation de telle sorte que, lorsque la partie mobile est déplacée vers la partie fixe, le dispositif de signalisation émet un signal vers un téléphone intelligent dun utilisateur ayant un dispositif daffichage sur lequel lutilisateur est informé si un rat est entré dans le piège.
