An array of microneedles is disposed within the housing, and the housing defines a chamber. The microneedle is movable between a release position and an engagement position, and in use, the microneedle penetrates the body surface in the engagement position. The chamber is configured to surround the body surface through which the microneedle penetrates in the engaged position. The chamber is configured to be connected to a vacuum device, and a negative pressure is applied to the chamber.
