Disclosed herein are methods for treating or preventing ophthalmic and dermatological diseases, including ocular surface diseases such as blepharitis, in a patient. The method comprises the step of topically administering an effective amount of an isoxazoline anthelmintic, formamidine anthelmintic or other active ingredient formulated in an ophthalmic composition directly to the ocular surface of one or more eyes of a patient in need of treatment for blepharitis.
