Abstract - 601255 Disclosed herein is an anaesthetic or sedative composition comprising a neuroactive steroid anaesthetic formulated with a cyclodextrin, wherein the neuroactive steroid anaesthetic is selected from the list consisting of alphaxalone, alphadolone and alphadolone acetate or a deuterated, tritiated or labelled derivative or salt thereof and wherein the cyclodextrin is (7) sulfobutyl ether b-cyclodextrin or an alkyl ether derivative thereof and wherein the molar ratio of neuroactive steroid anaesthetic to cyclodextrin is from 1:1.6 to 1:2.5.
