PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Geranium thunbergii composition which is obtained by extracting, without resolving, geraniin which is an active ingredient in Geranium thunbergii and contains geraniin as a main component, and to provide functional foods, food materials, food additives, health foods, pharmaceuticals, quasi drugs, cosmetics, and the like which utilize the functionality and bioactivity of the Geranium thunbergii composition.SOLUTION: The invention provides a method for producing a Geranium thunbergii composition containing, at a high content, geraniin purified using at least one or more kinds of methods, such as a supercritical extraction method, a membrane processing method, a dialysis membrane treatment method, a recrystallization method, a centrifugal separation method, a synthetic adsorbent material processing method, and an ion exchange resin treatment method in order to extract geraniin from a whole plant of undried or dried Geranium thunbergii with warm water or the like to which acids such as citric acid are added, and further to remove impurities. The invention also provides a method for applying the Geranium thunbergii composition widely to functional foods, food materials, food additives, health foods, pharmaceuticals, quasi drugs, cosmetics, and the like using the excellent antioxidative effect, melanin generation inhibiting effect, specific enzyme inhibiting effect, and SOD activity-like effect and the like thereof .
