The medical assembly includes a logging first unit adapted to be attached to the drug delivery device from a position that is not fully attached along the path to a position that is fully attached. The first unit includes a switch that is operable between an off state and an on state when the first unit is attached to the second unit, the switch from the position where the first unit is fully attached to the first unit. The first unit is in an on state when installed within a distance of the first unit, and is in an off state when the first unit is installed outside the first distance from a fully installed position. A snap lock that is operable from an initial state to a snap-in state through an expanded state when attached to the second unit, and within a second distance from the position where the first unit is fully attached. When attached to the snap lock, the snap lock is in a snap-in state and the second distance is shorter than the first distance. This arrangement ensures that the switch is in the on state before the snap lock is in the snap-in state.
