PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a composition which is useful for regulating mucus secretion and can be used for treating conditions of disease desirable to increase or decrease mucus secretion.SOLUTION: A method of inhibiting mucus secretion by a mucus-secreting cell comprises administering to the cell a mucus-inhibitory amount of a compound that inhibits MARCKS protein-related mucus secretion. And thereby, the amount of mucus secreted by the cell is reduced compared to that which would occur in the absence of the compound. For example, the compound is an active fragment of MARCKS protein. And, the method uses a peptide comprising a specific sequence to increase mucus secretion by the mucus secreting cell.【課題】粘液分泌の調節に有用であり、粘液分泌を増加または減少させることが望ましい病状の処置に使用し得る方法および組成物の提供。【解決手段】粘液分泌細胞による粘液分泌の阻害方法であって、該細胞に、ＭＡＲＣＫＳタンパク質関連の粘液分泌を阻害する化合物を、粘液を阻害する量で投与することを含み、これにより該細胞による粘液分泌が該化合物の非存在下で生じるであろう粘液分泌に比べて減少する粘液分泌細胞による粘液分泌の阻害方法であり、例えば前記化合物がＭＡＲＣＫＳタンパク質の活性断片である方法。また、特定配列を含むペプチドを用いて粘液分泌細胞の粘液分泌を増加させる方法。【選択図】なし
