The present invention relates to a technology for diagnosing sarcopenia based on a fat-free mass index. According to an embodiment of the present invention, an apparatus for diagnosing sarcopenia includes a calculating unit for calculating the fat-free mass index from measured body configuration information, and a diagnosing unit for determining the sarcopenia by comparing the calculated fat-free mass index with a sarcopenia reference value. The sarcopenia reference value is determined from data about a fat-free mass index distribution extracted from a statistical population. Accordingly, the present invention can accurately and easily diagnose the sarcopenia.본 발명은 제지방지수에 기초하여 근감소증을 진단하는 기술로서, 일실시예에 따른 근감소증 진단 장치는 측정된 신체 구성 정보로부터 제지방지수를 산출하는 산출부, 및 상기 산출된 제지방지수와 근감소증 기준치를 대비하여 근감소증 여부를 판단하는 진단부를 포함하고, 상기 근감소증 기준치는 통계 모집단으로부터 추출된 제지방지수 분포에 대한 데이터로부터 결정될 수 있다.
