An apparatus for transmitting an electrical signal is disclosed. The apparatus includes a substrate and a twisted pair of conductors disposed on the substrate. The twisted pair of conductors has a first layer that includes a conductive material, a second layer that includes a non-conductive material, and a third layer that includes a conductive material. The first layer has a plurality of segments separated by a plurality of gaps. The second layer is disposed in the gap and electrically insulates the portions of the segments disposed in the gap. The third layer is disposed on the second layer. The third layer is configured to electrically connect the end of one segment to the end of another segment. A twisted pair of conductors formed by a three-dimensional structure comprises two electrically isolated conductors twisted together.
