An apparatus features a receptacle 104 with an inlet 112, and an outlet 152 coupled to an outlet tube 160, 162, the material receptacle 104 containing a carrier element 150, carrying filament, which has an axis substantially aligned with the outlet tube 160,162. Also disclosed is a carrier (600,fig.16C) holding filamentary material wound from distal to proximal ends of the carrier. Also disclosed is an apparatus with a receptacle 104 with an inlet 112, and an outlet 152, a carrier carrying filamentary material, and a pressure sensitive valve, (55, fig.18A). The items above all have the aim of easy filament flow, under fluid pressure, to form packing material in a wound such as an aneurysm (20,fig.1).
