Disclosed is a process for preparing a pyridinamine compound represented by the structure of formula (I) which is preferably fluazinam, wherein the substituents are as defined herein, the process comprising reacting a compound of formula (A) (which is preferably 2,4-dichloro-3,5-dinitrobenzotrifluoride) with a compound of formula (B) (which is preferably 2-amino-3-chloro-5-trifluoromethylpyridine) in the presence of a base, wherein methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) is used as the reaction solvent.
