A pant-type absorbent article (1) comprising a chassis structure (6) comprisinga front panel (2) having a front end edge (8) and first and second side edges, a backpanel (3) having a back end edge (8) and first and second side edges (9) and a crotchpanel (4) arranged between the front and back panels (2, 3) at least one of saidfront and back panels (2, 3) comprising an elastic nonwoven/film laminate, anda core (22) being integrated with the chassis structure (6), the first and secondside edges (9) of the front panel (2) being joined by side seams (10) to the correspondingfirst and second side edges (9) of the back panel (3). Each side seam (10) is formedat least in part in a weldable connecting member (13), the connecting member (13)comprising a first part (27) being secured to a side edge (9) on the front panel(2) and a second part (28) being secured to a corresponding side edge (9) on theback panel (3), said first and second parts (27, 28) of said connecting member(13) being joined by thermowelding to form said side seam (10).
