PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve accuracy of calculating an absorption coefficient in photoacoustic imaging.SOLUTION: A subject information acquisition device comprises: an irradiation unit for irradiating a subject with light a detection unit including a plurality of elements that acquire acoustic waves generated from the subject and convert them into detection signals a detection unit scanning mechanism for moving the detection unit on the subject an integration unit that outputs an integrated signal by integrating, out of the detection signals converted from the acoustic waves acquired by the plurality of elements in respective positions through which the detection unit has moved, detection signals converted from the acoustic waves acquired in the same position on the subject an initial sound pressure calculation unit for calculating initial sound pressure in a region of interest from the integrated signal a light amount calculation unit for calculating a light amount in the region of interest and a subject information calculation unit for calculating information of the subject by using the initial sound pressure and the light amount.
