The present invention relates to a method for processing plant material to produce a cellulose-containing material. the process comprising the steps of: (i) contacting the particles of plant material with a peroxide agent and water； (ii) allowing the mixture from step (i) to hydrate until the pH of the mixture is ph 4.5 or less； and (iii) homogenizing the mixture from step (ii) and isolating the cellulose-containing material, and wherein the plant material particles in step (i) have an average particle diameter of 10 µm to 800 µm.a presente invenção refere-se a um método para o processamento de material vegetal para produzir um material contendo celulose. o processo compreendendo as etapas de: (i) colocar as partículas de material vegetal em contato com um agente de peróxido e água； (ii) permitir que a mistura da etapa (i) hidrate até que o ph da mistura seja ph 4,5 ou inferior； e (iii) homogeneizar a mistura da etapa (ii) e isolar o material contendo celulose, e em que as partículas de material vegetal na etapa (i) têm um diâmetro de partícula médio de 10 µm a 800 µm.
