PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide inflatable individual user support surfaces having respective controllers that regulate supply of a liquid as a function of various characteristics of the individual user support surfaces.SOLUTION: A control system 16 of a patient support surface 12 calculates a surface performance index as a function of pressure and shear.
