There is provided herein a method of treating or ameliorating primary sclerosing cholangitis and inflammatory bowel disease by administering to a subject in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a topical sodium-dependent bile acid transporter inhibitor (ASBTI) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof . Also provided herein is a method of treating or ameliorating primary sclerosing cholangitis, comprising administering to a subject in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of ASBTI or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.본원에서는 정단측 나트륨-의존성 담즙산 수송체 억제제(ASBTI) 또는 이의 약제학적으로 허용되는 염의 치료학적 유효량을 이를 필요로 하는 개체에게 투여함으로써 원발성 경화성 담관염 및 염증성 장 질환을 치료 또는 개선시키는 방법이 제공된다. 또한, 본원에서는 ASBTI 또는 이의 약제학적으로 허용되는 염의 치료학적 유효량을 이를 필요로 하는 개체에게 투여하는 것을 포함하여, 원발성 경화성 담관염을 치료 또는 개선시키는 방법이 제공된다.
