PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bone-strengthening agent which has an activity of promoting proliferation of osteoblasts and inhibiting differentiation of osteoclasts and bone resorption by osteoclasts and is useful for the prevention or treatment of various bone diseases such as osteoporosis, bone fracture, rheumatism, arthritis or the like, and also to provide bone strengthening products such as food, beverage, feed and medicine or the like containing the bone strengthening agent.SOLUTION: A bone-strengthening agent includes a whey protein hydrolysate as an active ingredient. Particularly, when the whey protein hydrolysate has such characteristics that the main peak appears within the range of from 200 Da to 3 kDa in a molecular weight distribution of 10 kDa or less, the APL (average peptide chain length) is 2-8, the free amino acid content is 20% or less, and the antigenicity is 1/10,000 or less of that of β-lactoglobulin, so that the bone-strengthening agent can have low allergenicity and less bitterness.COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT【課題】骨芽細胞の増殖を促進させ、また、破骨細胞の分化ならびに破骨細胞による骨吸収を抑制する作用を有するので、骨粗鬆症や骨折、リウマチ、関節炎などの種々の骨疾患の予防や治療に有用である骨強化剤、及び該骨強化剤を含有する飲食品、飼料、医薬等の骨強化用製品を提供することを課題とする。【解決手段】ホエイタンパク質加水分解物を有効成分として含有することを特徴とする骨強化剤。特にホエイタンパク質加水分解物が分子量分布10kDa以下でメインピーク200Da~3kDa、APL(平均ペプチド鎖長)は2~8、遊離アミノ酸含量は20%以下、及び、抗原性はβ-ラクトグロブリンの抗原性の1/10,000以下の特徴を有することにより、低アレルゲン性で、苦味の少ない骨強化剤とすることができる。【選択図】なし
