Disclosed is the crystalline sodium salt of trans-(4-{ 4-[5-(6-trifluoromethyl-pyridin-3-ylamino)-pyridin-2-yl]-phenyl} -cyclohexyl)-acetic acid of formula (II), characterised by a powder x-ray diffraction pattern comprising five or more 2theta values (±0.1 degree) selected from the group consisting of 5.9, 17.0, 19.1, 19.6, 22.5, 23.6, 28.4 and 30.0, at a temperature of 20°C to 25° C. Further disclosed is a process for making the crystalline sodium salt defined above by recrystallisation of sodium salt of trans-(4-{ 4-[5-(6-trifluoromethyl-pyridin-3-ylamino)-pyridin-2-yl]-phenyl} -cyclohexyl)-acetic acid of formula (II) from a suitable solvent such as ethanol/ethyl acetate (1 :1), or by slurrying with anhydrous THF or with isopropyl alcohol.
