The present invention is directed to an antibody or fragments thereof that are specific for a fibroblast growth factor receptor (EGFR)-1(IIIb), EGFR-1(IIIc), and/or EGFR-4. Also, provided herein, are vectors and host cells comprising the nucleic acids encoding those antibodies. The present invention further provides methods of antagonizing EGFR-1 or EGFR-4 as a treatment for obesity, diabetes, or a condition related thereto, and methods of reducing food intake.
