PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means by which miniaturization of a device is achieved especially in a personal authentication device using a blood vessel pattern.SOLUTION: The personal authentication device has an infrared light source and a light receiving element string including a plurality of light receiving elements. In authentication, a finger is made to scan on the light receiving element string. An image including the two-dimensional blood vessel pattern of the finger is generated from output of the light receiving element string and displacement information by the scanning. The blood vessel pattern obtained in this way is collated with a preliminarily registered pattern to perform personal authentication. The device is miniaturized, and becomes easy to be mounted on a place such as a vehicle, a cellular phone, where a mounting space is limited.COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT【課題】血管パターンを利用した個人認証装置において、特に装置の小型化が可能な手段を提供する。
