PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brushcutter in which a high voltage application function is added so as to stably generate a high voltage over a long term.SOLUTION: A brushcutter 1 includes: a long operation rod 5 a rotary cutting blade 2 rotatably supported at the tip of the operation rod 5 and cutting weeds growing from the ground an engine body 21 provided at the rear end of the operation rod 5 and rotationally driving the rotary cutting blade 2 high voltage generators 73, 74 for generating a high voltage capable of destroying cell membranes of weeds and a first current-carrying member 75 disposed near the rotary cutting blade 2 in a non- contact manner, and discharging electricity between the rotary cutting blade 2 and itself by the high voltage generated by the high voltage generators 73, 74. The high voltage generated by the high voltage generators 73, 74 is applied from the rotary cutting blade 2 to the weeds coming into contact with the rotary cutting blade 2.
