The present invention pertains to a method for tracing medicaments administered to an animal, the method comprising operatively connecting a data storage unit to the animal, providing a device for administering the medicament, the device default being in a non-administration mode, establishing that the device has approached the animal to administer the medicament, where-after the device is automatically switched to an administration mode, administering the medicament to the animal with the device, which administering leads to automatically storing information about the administration of the medicament in the data storage unit and switching the device to the default non-administration mode. The invention also pertains to a system for applying this method and a device for using therein.L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de tracer des médicaments administrés à un animal, le procédé consistant à connecter fonctionnellement une unité d'enregistrement de données à l'animal, à fournir un dispositif permettant d'administrer le médicament, le dispositif étant par défaut dans un mode de non-administration, à établir que le dispositif s'est approché de l'animal pour administrer le médicament, après quoi le dispositif est commuté automatiquement vers un mode administration, à administrer le médicament à l'animal avec le dispositif, ladite administration entraînant l'enregistrement automatique d'informations concernant l'administration du médicament dans l'unité d'enregistrement de données et la commutation du dispositif vers le mode de non-administration par défaut. L'invention concerne également un système permettant de mettre en œuvre ce procédé et un dispositif à utiliser dans celui-ci.
