PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel combination of orally active drugs for the treatment of a patient infected with a specific virus (e.g., HIV).SOLUTION: The present invention provides a therapeutic combination of [2-(6-amino-purin-9yl)-1-methyl-ethoxymethyl]-phosphonic acid di-isopropoxycarbonyl oxymethyl ester (Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate, Viread (R)) and (2R, 5S, cis)-4-amino-5-fluoro-1-(2 hydroxymethyl-1, 3-oxathiolane-5-yl)-(1H)- pyrimidine-2-one (emtricitabine,(-)-cis FTC Emtriva, and also provides their physiologically functional derivatives.
