PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modified peptide of an antimicrobial protein of insects composed of D-amino acids, a method for preventing or treating bacterial infection diseases or cancers by administering the peptide to a subject, and a drug for the prevention or treatment of bacterial infection diseases or cancers containing the peptide as an active component.
SOLUTION: It has been found that modified peptides of antimicrobial proteins of insects composed of D-amino acids are effective for various bacterial infection diseases or cancers by the investigation made by the inventors concerning the effects of intravenous administration of L-type and D-type modified peptides on the control of MRSA infection diseases, the suppression of TNF-&alpha, the prevention of endotoxin shock, the suppression of in vitro proliferation of trypanosome protozoan, and the suppression of the proliferation of cancer cells.
