PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To feed blood enriched in oxygen as much as possible while suppressing pressure buildup by controlling flow rate of venous blood fed by bypassing an artificial lung through a shunt circuit when the pressure increases in the artificial lung.
SOLUTION: An artificial lung device includes: the artificial lung 1 introduced into a blood circulating circuit 2, 3 a blood pump 4 introduced into the blood circulating circuit on an inlet side of the artificial lung the shunt circuit 7 branched from the blood circulating circuit and bypassing the artificial lung 1 an aperture-adjusting device 9 for adjusting the aperture of the flowing path of the shunt circuit an inlet-pressure sensor 10 for detecting the inlet pressure P1 which is the pressure of the blood circulating circuit in the inlet side of the artificial lung and a control part 12 for controlling the movement of the aperture-adjusting device based on the inlet pressure P1. The control part operates based on a control upper limit value set to a predetermined value, and controls the aperture-adjusting device so that the inlet pressure P1 is kept at the control upper limit value or lower when the inlet pressure P1 exceeds the control upper limit value.
