A device (100, 101) for functional electrical stimulation, comprising: a garment (10) mountable on a user's body part; an assembly (20) comprising a socket (8) and an electrode (9, 9A, 9B) in turn comprising a plurality of electrode pads (91) and a stimulator (1) comprising means for controlling the activation/deactivation of stimulating electrical signals to be provided to at least some of said plurality of electrode pads (91). The garment (10) defines a hollow area (60) configured to receive the socket (8), the socket (8) being configured to house the stimulator (1). In use of the device (100, 101), a first portion of the electrode (9, 9A, 9B) is in contact with an inner surface of the garment (10), the electrode pads (91) of the electrode (9, 9A, 9B) being in a fixed position with respect to the garment (10), and a second portion (921) of the electrode (9, 9A, 9B) is in contact with a surface of the socket (8) for receiving the stimulating electrical signals delivered by the stimulator (1). A system (400) comprising: a device (100, 101) for functional electrical stimulation; and a sensor (30) configured to be positioned on either said body part of the user or in the proximity thereto, the sensor (30) measuring information during movement and emitting sensor signals indicative thereof, to be received and processed by the stimulator (1); the stimulator (1) controlling the activation/deactivation of stimulating electrical signals to be provided to at least some of said plurality of electrode pads (91) as a function of the sensor signals provided by the sensor (30).
