<;P>;PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for effectively preventing adhesion and proliferation of an attached marine organism on a surface of a construction in seawater such as seawater inlet/outlet facility of an electric power plant at a low cost. <;P>;SOLUTION: The method for preventing the adhesion and proliferation of the attached marine organism on the surface of the construction in seawater includes irradiation of the surface of the construction with ultraviolet rays by using a light-emitting diode as a light source. The attached marine organism is preferably barnacles, mussels, hydrozoans or jellyfish polyps, the construction in seawater is the seawater inlet/outlet facility of the electric power plant, a coastal fish culture facility or a fishery facility, and the ultraviolet ray is UVA having a wavelength of 315-380 nm, especially 365 nm or 375 nm. <;P>;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
