[Problem] To provide a highly safe medical device in which it is possible to prevent a member attached to the distal end of an operation wire (14) which is passed through a catheter (1) from dropping out from an operation wire. [Solving Means] There is disclosed a medical device provided with an operation wire (14) which is passed through a catheter (1) and which is advanceable and retractable toward the axial direction with respect to the catheter (1), a distal member (68) which is interlocked on the distal side of the operation wire (14), and a grasping unit (20, 30) which is interlocked on the proximal side of the operation wire (14), wherein there is included a safety mechanism for releasing the interlock between the operation wire (14) and the grasping unit (20, 30) by a load lower than the breaking strength between the operation wire (14) and the distal member (68).
