Die Erfindung betrifft ein ophthalmologisches Implantat (4) mit einem Wirkstoffabgabesystem (1), welches dazu ausgebildet ist, im implantierten Zustand des ophthalmologischen Implantats (4) wenigstens einen pharmakologischen Wirkstoff (3) abzugeben, wobei das Wirkstoffabgabesystem (1) wenigstens ein Hydrogel (2) als Matrix umfasst, wobei das Hydrogel (2) eine Schicht auf einem optischen Teil (5) des Implantats (4) bildet, kovalent an den optischen Teil (5) gebunden und mit dem wenigstens einen Wirkstoff (3) beladen ist.
