Various embodiments of a tracheal tube having a tubular body with an open distal end and a tube wall with a variable thickness are provided. The tube wall may include a thickened section comprising a void. The tracheal tube may also include an offset ventilation lumen disposed in the tubular body and adapted to facilitate airflow to and from a patient. Embodiments of the tracheal tube may also include a suction lumen disposed in the thickened section of the tube wall and terminating in a port opening into the void for removal of secretions from the patients trachea.
