PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underpants type absorbent article capable of retaining the leakage preventing function in three-dimensional gather parts, quickly immobilizing an excreted liquid with an absorbent core, and further improving the sideways leakage preventing capability even if a large amount of urine, etc. is excreted.SOLUTION: An underpants type absorbent article has a waist opening part 12 and a pair of leg opening parts 13, and is divided into an abdominal portion F, a crotch portion C and a back portion R. The underpants type absorbent article further includes a vertically long absorbent body 3 including an absorbent core 33 and an exterior body disposed on the non-skin abutting side of the absorbent body 3. The absorbent core 3 has two lines of grooves 36 and 36 disposed on both sides in the longitudinal direction of an excreting part corresponding region 80 in the crotch portion C.
