A spout control system controls and aims a spout (12) and a spout cap (16) of a crop harvesting vehicle (10) with respect to a separate crop hauling vehicle (20) moving with the harvesting vehicle (10). The control system includes a video camera (24, 25) which is mounted on the cap (16) and which views a field of view which includes a portion of the hauling vehicle (20). An image signal generated by the camera (24, 25) is received by a control unit (40). The control unit (40) processes a digitized form of the image signal and automatically generates spout and cap control signals as a function thereof. Actuators automatically aim the spout (12) and the cap (16) in response to the control signal.
