A device that inserts a flexible needle or other such device into the tissue. A foldable support guide is supported which supports a portion of the needle which has not yet penetrated the tissue. This prevents buckling of the needle. It is an arrangement in which the proximal end of the needle is pulled in order to give sufficient force to the invasive process. The collapsible support guide may be a pair of flexible strips connected along the length, which may be a pair of flexible strips that encapsulate and support the needle along its uninstalled length it can. The mechanism at the distal end of the device strips the strip from the needle as the needle is inserted. Insertion can be achieved by a pair of rotating bodies engaging the strip and advancing the strip distally. Alternatively, a retractable support tube can be used to support the needle.
